After the Chinese revolution, the Honda CG125 won the hearts of the Chinese public with its functionality, durability and design. However as the years went by motorcycles were gradually replaced by cars and most old classics were left abandoned or sold simply as scrap metal.
As a personal project, my quest was to take an originally imported CG125 and bring it back to life. It was a great adventure and an unbelievably rewarding process. The learning curve was steep.
I left only a few basic original parts like the engine and frame and handcrafted everything else to resemble classic cafe racers. I spent most of my time designing, cutting, welding and rebuilding. The key to a classic cafe look was to find a craftsman who could not only customize a hump leather seat but also rebuild a fully finished custom tank. I completed the CG125 with a personal decal on the side.
A Special thanks to Adrien Macera, founder of Beijing's Black Bridge Motorcycles, this project would not have been possible without his in depth knowledge in motorcycles and his amazing workshop space.
