Nexxus is one of oldest and most well known hair care brands in America. Their consumer loyalty carries from wash and care all the way to styling products. Designed by Berard Associates, the new Nexxus packaging for wash and care was launched in 2015. Following the success of the new rebranding, Nexxus wanted to redesign the styling range to differ from the rest of the products. Whilst the wash and care range cued science and expertise, the styling range pushes the existing boundaries for a stronger shelf presence and a bolder look.

Since the 50's Lakmé has been the largest and most popular cosmetic brand in India. With the increase in products over the years, their brand was in need of an identity refresh and packaging redesign to elevate above its international competitors. The main challenge was to unify the brand and find a common design architecture across their distinctive platforms.
By standardizing the typography and information hierarchy across all platforms, the brand created a powerful shelf presence. Individual personalities were created for each platforms with the typographic adjustments and the bold choice of colors. As a result, the Absolute range is edgy, fashion forward aspirational to glamorous fashionistas. 9to5 range is prefect for everyday working women who are professional yet feminine. Core range is designed to be the building block for young explorers. This new look and feel was so well received that it is now being adapted to over 200 SKUs, marketing materials and retail designs.

After the Chinese revolution, the Honda CG125 won the hearts of the Chinese public with its functionality, durability and design. However as the years went by motorcycles were gradually replaced by cars and most old classics were left abandoned or sold simply as scrap metal.
As a personal project, my quest was to take an originally imported CG125 and bring it back to life. It was a great adventure and an unbelievably rewarding process. The learning curve was steep.
I left only a few basic original parts like the engine and frame and handcrafted everything else to resemble classic cafe racers. I spent most of my time designing, cutting, welding and rebuilding. The key to a classic cafe look was to find a craftsman who could not only customize a hump leather seat but also rebuild a fully finished custom tank. I completed the CG125 with a personal decal on the side.
A Special thanks to Adrien Macera, founder of Beijing's Black Bridge Motorcycles, this project would not have been possible without his in depth knowledge in motorcycles and his amazing workshop space.

The founders of Great Leap Brewing, were on a quest to "foster a Chinese craft beer culture." Their craft beers stand apart from commercially mass produced products. They believe in embracing global beer culture with locally sourced, high quality ingredients.
Inspired by Chinese ingredients, Great Leap Brewing has created more than 40 unique craft beers. They needed a new revolutionary identity to maintain consistency between the core brand and the beer variants. We designed an unique system for the Great Leap Brewing which allowed the core logo to be strong and iconic yet gave enough flexibility to transform and capture the idea behind each variant with original naming and illustrations. This identity expanded beyond packaging and into environment design for their new taproom. With more variants to come, Great Leap Brewing continues to give back to the community by producing the best possible handcrafted beers.

Back in early 2000, Lohas' concept to use only natural ingredients with minimal processing stood out in the Chinese mass market of food and beverage. Since their initial launch, Lohas has been very well received by the local consumers. However as the brand evolved from mass to masstige, their packaging also had to follow. Keeping in line with the previous packaging, the white color background provides brand recognition and distinguishes from its competitors. By exploring directions with hand drawn fruit illustrations, it helped to tell the natural story, add appetite appeal and contemporize the packaging.

China's fashion industry has grown exponentially in the past few years without acknowledgement in the global market. AnyWearStyle merges the gaps between different trends and cultures by creating a bilingual fashion blog and online store. The site is devoted to the hottest fashion topics, up-coming designer trends and exclusive boutique products.
Our objective was to create a visual system that was immediately recognizable without overpowering the content. Despite tight deadlines, this project was a success with both the client and users. It was satisfying to create a piece which contributed back to the design world.

The first Great Leap Brewing's hutong location was too small for the large crowds of Beijing beer lovers. It was time to open Beijing's largest brewpub with 5800ft² of space to accommodate 15 different variants of handcrafted beer allowing 4000 pints on tap daily.
After creating an unique packaging and visual identity system for Great Leap Brewing, the next task was expanding the visual language to environment graphics. We worked closely with the founders of Great Leap Brewing to bring to life a sense of timelessness and permanence. From the use of typography, way-finding graphics to the choice of materials, the space transformed into a local taproom that felt like it had been around for generations.
Great Leap Brewing was featured in Remodelista in Janurary 2014 and was voted "Bar of the year" at The Beijinger 10th Annual Reader Bar & Club Awards by locals and expatriates.

The founder of 'A Love Line' was inspired by the idea of 'a life line': to provide an escape from a difficult situation. This inspiration led her to create 'A Love Line', a multi-purpose alternative to the beauty industry's standard of including unnecessary or possibly harmful ingredients. A Love Line in based on pure organic essential oils and consist of minimal ingredients and processing.
The design approach was to create a niche brand that is effective, pre and consumer transparent by establishing a recognizable yet simple graphic design system. Wuyutai the oldest and most renowned tea brand in China since the Qing dynasty. Their Pu'er range is one of the most popular teas and often given as gifts because of its long history and diverse health benefits.
Our task was to design two ranges of sophisticated and appealing Pu'er tea packages that stayed true to Wuyutai's brand history and culture. The packaging designs were inspired by the rich history of ancient trade in tea. The economical range was created for young loose tea leaves and the packaging illustrated the extragavant history of tea journey.
The extravagant range was created to package vintage tea cakes that have fermented for decades or even over a century. The design of this range was based on the growth rings of trees; the more mature the tea cake is, the more elaborate and intricate the packaging materials. As a result, Wuyutai's Pu'er packaging was unlike anything else in the tea market and were sold out at pre-sale.

Arla is one of the leading dairy companies in Europe with over 130 years of heritage. Their philosophy of using high quality ingredients and producing all natural, healthy dairy products have developed into their core 'Close to Nature' concept.
Arla decided to bring their expertise to the China market, as the demand for pure, safe and natural dairy products had grown significantly over the last few years. A new brand architecture was created for China which extended through the entire dairy portfolio. The challenge was to create a clear design system that would navigate across different platforms (organic, kids), products (milk, cheese) and variants (whole, skimmed). By keeping the packaging design fresh, pure and simple as well as adding appetite appeal with enticing imagery, the brand stood out from all the local competitors while preserving Arla's core values.

Cheesy, sleazy and nasty may be the first words that come to mind when referring to the sex toy industry in China. Against sterotype, Key, a new sex toy brand set out to create a benchmark in the industry by introducing sophisticated yet relatable designs.
Sexuality and pleasure is a tricky topic to navigate. The challenge was to design a series of sex toys that "liberates adult pleasure" in a flirtatious and confident way without being overly apparent.
